Games On The iPod Touch - Something For Everyone!

The iPod Touch is one of the most versatile MP3 players on the market today. In addition to playing MP3s, there are tons of applications available. From analyzing stocks, to keeping track of finance, to drawing, and even playing video games, the App Store is full of, literally, tens of thousands of applications for a person to choose from. One of the things the iPod touch is known for, however, is its ability to run some pretty intensive games, especially for being an MP3 player.

Most MP3 players and phones up until recently had very simple apps on them, typically ones that required few button presses, such as card, strategy, and very simple action games. The touch screen interface and speedy processor of this version of the iPod, however, changed mobile gaming forever. It has the capability to run very graphically demanding, complex applications that other mobile devices couldn't even begin to touch.

IPod Touch Apps

What kind of games are available for the iPod Touch? Ones in just about every genre you can think of! Of course, like most mobile devices, there are a slew of standard card, puzzle, and strategy games. Some of them are slow-paced, but entertaining, and allow the person to pick up and put back down as he or she has time to play around a busy daily schedule (such as during a break at work). They may not be as demanding on the hardware as some of the other styles of games, but they are very entertaining, with high replay value.

Games On The iPod Touch - Something For Everyone!

The iPod touch has a wide selection, and some may even say that some of the titles rival that which you would find on a console system. For example, some of the most popular titles on the iPod Touch right have graphics on par with games being released on devices strictly designed for gaming. The key features of titles like these for the iPod touch are multiplayer capability, crisp touch screen controls and 3D visuals.

No matter what sort of game a person enjoys playing, whether it be a game of Solitaire, a puzzle to pass the time, or a multiplayer shoot 'em up, the iPad Touch has an amazing selection to choose from. There are varieties for all ages, any gender, and for all level of gamer on the iPod Touch. With over 500,000 applications in the App Store to choose from, it's safe to assume that there really is something for every type of person out there.

10 Reasons Why the Nook is Better Than the Kindle - Battle of the eBook Readers

I have to admit, I shop a lot from Amazon.com. So much to say that I consider myself an Amazolic. I think it is because I believe that they have the best collection of DVDs, clothes, gadgets, electronics, books, and just about everything else that one would want to shop online for. However, I got a little flimsy about Amazon after the homepage turned into a one item promotion page for their eBook eReader, The Kindle. It is almost as if they are playing some kind mind-trick on their visitors. Make them see the Kindle enough times that a percentage of people who visit Amazon.com end up psychologically convincing themselves to give in and buy the eBook Reader.

That is when I saw an article on Kindle getting a new competitor in the eBook Reader market, the Barnes and Noble Nook. As if on auto-pilot, I found myself on BarnesandNoble.com and was pleasantly surprised to see that the homepage was not plastered with a huge posting on an eBook Reader. In fact, there was a small 2x2 inch ad reading, "Nook, The World's Most Advanced eBook Reader: Learn More" on the right of the page. And that was it! No mind games, no tricks, just a simple, genuine ad that definitely caught my eye.

IPod Touch Apps

The early pre-orders are expected to be delivered by mid-December, which is a slight delay as Barnes and Noble admitted to be getting a high demand for their eReaders. If you still have not placed your order, no need to worry, you will get your new eBook Reader in early January.

10 Reasons Why the Nook is Better Than the Kindle - Battle of the eBook Readers

Here are 10 reasons why the Nook triumphs over the Kindle:

Goes easy on the eyes. There is no glare or backlight that some complained about the Kindle, and with the adjustable text size, you can read on for hours without the discomfort of your eyes being tired out. Sample eBooks for free. You can download a free sample of any eBook from the store and not only discover new authors but also check out the most talked about books for free on your Barnes and Noble eBook Reader. The Kindle does not offer this convenience. Mark up your pages and Reading Now. Nook makes it simple and easy to bookmark, highlight passages, or even make notes, with a built in tool, which also allows you to look up the meaning of any word mid-sentence, using the built-in dictionary. Size, Display and Specifications. Compact Size - The Nook is about the same size and weight as an average sized paperback book. Expandable Storage - With 2GB built-in memory, the Nook can store about 1,500 eBooks. However with a microSD memory card slot, this number is pushed up to 17,500 eBooks. Paper-like Display - The most advanced E-ink Vizplex electronic paper display that reads like the printed page and you can read an eBook in bright sunlight as clearly as inside your home Color Touchscreen - 3.5 inch color touchscreen LCD that offers one-touch control and navigation. The Kindle has a gray-scale display. Fast and Free Wireless - Fast and Free wireless from Barnes & Noble via AT&T, the nation's fastest 3G network. Supported File Types - Very flexible options that include EPUB and eReader Formats, PDFs, MP3s and graphics that load to your Nook from your computer or micro SD card and JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP files are used to create personal screen savers. Personalized Screen Saver - Customize your nook quickly and easily by loading your own photos or using the many default pictures. Powerful Battery - You can read for up to ten days without recharging (with wireless off). Charging is done via USB to computer system or power adapter.Cost-efficient At just 0, the Barnes and Noble Nook eBook Reader is the same price as Amazon's Kindle 2, but you get so much more for your money. You get Wi-Fi, an SD slot, native PDF support and that extra double screen makes it seem eons out of the Kindle's league. Easy to Lend and Share Your eBooks with Friends and Family. One of the main objections that users of the Kindle and other older eReaders have is that people prefer to to get the majority of their eBooks from their friends or family, rather than buying them from bookstores, which all these previous eReaders do not really have much flexibility with. The Nook realizes that people do like to share their eBooks and allows for a 2-week lending period - plenty of time to read a book. Also, you can lend a book from your Nook to tons of different devices: Mac, PC, iPhone, iPod Touch, PC, Mac, BlackBerry, or Windows Mobile (soon). Double Screen. With the traditional single screen that is seen in all the eBook eReaders prior to the Barnes and Noble Nook eBook eReader, browsing for books was a workout on its own and often a frustration. But with its capacitive double touchscreen, the Nook offers a keyboard and Cover-Flow-esque browsing that takes away the awkwardness and lethargy of e-ink, and more importantly, it opens the door for multitasking. You will be able to read a book and control your music at the same time, and since the music browser will be on the LCD screen, it will not look like some e-inked crap. It will also support photo browsing and the ability to set your own wallpaper. Battery Life. The Barnes and Noble Nook eBook Reader comes with a 10-day battery life, which might not be just as long as the Kindle 2's 14 days, but with all the extra features it comes along with, you have to admit, 10 days is still more than enough time to read a book. Android Integration - Leads to Endless Possibilities. B&N seem to be open to apps being introduced to the Nook, which will take your user experience to a whole new level when compared to the Kindle and other existing eReaders. Picture this: Your iPod merged with an eBook reader - that is exactly what the Nook eReader will feel like. Largest eBook Collection. With over 1 million titles to choose from, the eBooks will be available through the Barnes and Noble eBookStore and will delivered through the 3G wireless network. Thousands of older titles are free, and many new releases are as low as .99.

I should also mention that the accessories for the Nook are looking hot as you have the option of personalising your Nook with rubberized plastic covers, leather cases with button straps, and artistic sleeve covers are just some of the looks you can use to brand your Nook as truly yours.

I am very interested in the Nook eReader as I do a lot of reading and to be honest, how cool would it be to be doing some bedtime reading with a light-weight Nook, not having to switch arms because you are getting tired of holding a traditional, heavy book.

10 Reasons Why the Nook is Better Than the Kindle - Battle of the eBook Readers

For me, the Barnes and Noble Nook wins the battle with The Kindle by a landslide. The new features are of course noteworthy, but what stands out to me is that this is not another iPhone-esque product. Once everyone starts getting something and all your friends are going around with Kindles in their pockets, I feel better knowing I have something different and The Nook seems perfect to do just that.

If you are considering an eReader for yourself or as a gift for someone, you should definitely consider the Nook for a more personal, advanced and genuine touch. Need more information on the Barnes & Noble Nook eReader and where to buy?

Apple's New Tablet - What Will iPad Cost and How Does it Work?

Apple has finally done it. Apple has released its new tablet device, that is. The Mac public was expecting, indeed clamoring -- for Apple to release such a device -- and soon! For Apple to have failed to do so would have been a major letdown (to its customers as well as its stockholders). The momentum was just impossible to resist.

After all, the iPhone is essentially a miniature tablet computer. Apple has shown that it can "do" such a device like no one else. So, despite Steve Jobs past protestations, releasing a new tablet was a no-brainer. All Apple had to do is scale up its brilliant interface to a larger device.

Did I say "all Apple had to do?" The technical challenges in producing this new device, called the iPad, were enormous. Apple had to essentially design a whole new operating system that is not quite the Mac and not quite the iPhone, rewrite its core applications from scratch, and basically rethink the entire way a computer operates.

Apple's New Tablet - What Will iPad Cost and How Does it Work?

Apple was not the first to release a new tablet computer, just as it was not the first to release an MP3 player or cell phone, but it may well be the company that succeeds in making the tablet computer truly "catch fire" with the public.

Apple has a tremendous head start with 140,000+ apps for the iPhone, and it wisely designed the iPad to take advantage of them. The iPad can run iPhone apps at their original size, or in "pixel doubled mode" twice the size as on the iPhone, so that they nearly fill the iPad screen. Developers can easily rewrite their iPhone apps specifically for the iPad in such a way as to take advantage of its new features.

How will the iPad affect Internet marketers? Of course, the "i" in its name stands for Internet (and it's also a clever play on the name of the "iPod"). Surfing the web will be a joy, and a larger screen will give users much more room to work with. Apple's developers brag that it's like "holding the entire Internet in your hand," or like reading a physical book or magazine.

Creation of new apps for the iPad by developers could rival the gold rush that sprang up around the iPhone. Apple offers the SDK 3.2 beta for developers with the tools they need to start creating applications for the iPad, and an iPad simulator that lets them build and run applications on the Mac, lay out the user interface, test memory usage and debug.

Web graphic designers and artists will enjoy the included Brushes application on the iPad's larger screen, although some may feel that it is something like fingerpainting -- a stylus that works with the iPad will not be supported, at least not initially.

Apple has completely rewritten its productivity software iWork for the iPad. Keynote contains custom graph styles, custom-designed themes, animations and effects, and brand-new features designed just for the iPad. Pages includes Apple-designed templates and formatting tools. Numbers offers over 250 formulas, flexible tables and sophisticated charts.

Want to catch up on your marketing reading? Apple has worked hard to make reading e-books, magazines and newspapers pleasurable on the iPad. Apple's e-book reading software has an interface that looks like a bookshelf. Flip the bookshelf over with your finger, and you're brought to the online store where you can purchase new books.

The iPad's built-in Safari browser works just like the one on your Mac. And, like the version on your iPhone, you can scroll through pages by flicking your finger across them, or pinch or double tap to zoom in on a photo.

The Mail application offers a landscape view with a split screen showing both the current e-mail and the unread messages in your inbox. Want to view the current e-mail message by itself? Simply turn the iPad to portrait mode and the message zooms to fill the screen. The iPad will work with popular e-mail providers such as mobile me, Yahoo Mail, Gmail, Hotmail and AOL. To compose a message, you just tap and start typing.

This brings us to the onscreen keyboard. Many pundits wondered how text entry would work on Apple's new tablet device. You can use an external keyboard for typing long documents if you wish. However, I think Apple made the right decision in not attempting to build a physical keyboard into the tablet. The goal of the iPad is to bring your data and web surfing up close for an intimate feel. A keypad would simply get between you and the screen.

The on-screen keyboard is much larger, of course, than what is possible on the iPhone. In landscape mode, the keyboard is almost as large as that on a standard laptop. With just a few tweaks to the word recognition and auto-correction features of the iPhone software, typing on this virtual keyboard, I suspect, could be almost as fast as using a real one. Plus, I believe that voice dictation apps could come quickly to the iPad, just as they have to the iPhone.

And, of course, the iPad includes all of the same features as the iPhone, only in a larger form--video, YouTube, the iPod and iTunes, interactive satellite maps, the notepad, a calendar completely redesigned from the ground up for the iPad, Contacts and Spotlight search.

The iPad will be shipped in three different internal storage configurations and with the option of Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + 3G, for a total of six different models. The base model, the 16 GB Wi-Fi only, will start at a reasonable 9, while the top of the line 64 GB Wi-Fi + 3G model will tip the scales at a still affordable 9. Apple has said that, while most new technologies are introduced at a higher price point and slowly work their way down, Apple wanted to do things differently.

When will the iPad be available? Apple expects the Wi-Fi models to ship in late March and the 3G models to ship in April.

The thinness, just 0.5 inches, the light weight, just 1.5 pounds, and the flexibility of this new device are sure to make the iPad popular with Internet marketers and anyone on the go. With its high resolution LED backlight, it's larger display, it's responsive multi-touch screen and its powerful Apple-designed processor, the new iPad will be thin and light enough to take anywhere. And I suspect that many people will choose to do exactly that.

The Easiest and Best Way to Transfer Songs From iPod to PC With Vista Or Any Other OS

Do you have some songs, videos or files on your iPod that you would like to transfer to your PC and be able to enjoy them straight from your hard drive? Well many people are in the same situation but cannot seem to figure out how to transfer iPod media back to the computer. So in this article I am going to show the easiest and best way to transfer songs from iPod to PC with Vista or any other operating system for that matter, in turn allowing you to freely transfer media from iPod to PC at any time you like.

First of all the reason you are unable to simply drag and drop items from your iPod back onto your hard drive via iTunes is due to strict copyright and privacy laws. You see Apple places these restrictions within the iTunes software and iPods so that you do not share the music or videos you downloaded from their iTunes store illegally with different computers or iPods. They probably just want to make more money by making you download the material again for your hard drive. However whatever their motive is you needn't worry as you can easily transfer songs and videos from your iPod to PC if you have the proper tools in play.

Many software developers have come to realize this major flaw in the iTunes software, hence they have taken matters into their own hands and designed some very unique software which allows you to easily transfer media from your iPod to the computer. These programs are very easy to use and they work exactly like iTunes, expect of course they allow you to freely transfer media between both iPod and PC. The software is great for anyone who needs to get media off their iPod and put it onto a hard drive and the best part about it is that it's usually free to download and try out.

The Easiest and Best Way to Transfer Songs From iPod to PC With Vista Or Any Other OS

The Different iPad Models Available - Which is the Best Deal?

With so many different models of the new iPad available, it can be a little confusing trying to pick the best one for your situation. Here's a detailed comparison of the different iPad models and their features.

2 Basic Differences for the iPad Models

1) Different Memory Capacity- The iPad will come in different memory capacities, much like every other product Apple comes out with! Just like the iPod touch and iPhones, the iPad will be priced differently depending on the amount of memory storage you get.

The Different iPad Models Available - Which is the Best Deal?

16G- The 16 gigabyte model is the cheapest of all the models. This model will probably be for you if you don't plan on putting a ton of movies onto the device. You can count on approximately 1 GB of space to be taken up for a movie. So plan accordingly if you want to buy this model.

32G- Since a movie does take up around 1 GB (depending on the movie!), movie buffs might want to go with a more memory like the 32G model.

64G- At 64G, you can basically put a ton of information on this device and not have to worry about it. You could put a good library of movies, music, and ebooks.

Bottom line- It depends on your intended use of the iPad obviously! One could easily get the lowest memory and just plan on erasing and replacing movies as they are watched. Others who want their entire library of everything available will want to get the larger memory.

2) WiFi only or WiFi and 3G- There will be two models of each memory size. They will be "WiFi", or "3G and WiFi".

WiFi Models- The WiFi only models will be able to hook up to the internet in any WiFi area. You will just be using the actual internet at that point through a wireless router.

3G- This feature will allow you to access the internet from anywhere there is 3G service. It should be noted that a 3G data plan will be necessary and cost extra.

Bottom Line- WiFi uses the internet. 3G you need a data plan. If you go abroad, you'll need to turn on international data as well. This isn't like the "Kindle" where the 3G just works.

So what's the best deal?

We've yet to see what the most popular models will be for most consumers. The memory size is obviously up to how much one can spend and how much "stuff" they want to put onto it.

I personally think the 3G will not be a very popular choice though. Only because you have to pay for a 3G data plan! It may be just as easy for some to wait to use it when they are in a WiFi hotspot.

Obviously it's still up to personal preference and amount you're willing to spend.

I personally don't find much wrong with getting the WiFi 16 GB and just swapping out movies as needed. Then you are spending the least amount, but still getting a great gadget, the iPad [http://www.gadget-freak.info]!

Updating the iPad Operating System and System Software

Apple has designed the iPad to automatically update regularly for essential and systems software when your iPad is connected to a computer with internet. If you don't connect your device and sync your data with regularly, follow the simple steps below to manually update your iPad's operating system and other essential system software.

1. Using the cable provided by Apple, connect your iPad to your laptop or desktop computer.
2. Launch iTunes and the software should automatically detect and sync your computer and your iPad.
3. Select your iPad on the device list by clicking on it.
4. Click the "Summary tab".
5. Click "Check for Update" to connect to the Apple data server. iTunes will now connect and see if there is any software to update. A dialog box will pop up giving the size of the update and description, if any software update is available.
6. Click "Next".
7. iTunes will now display Apple's License Agreement. Click "Agree" to accept.
8. iTunes will now download your software update and automatically install the software. You iPad will restart once it's finished and display the Apple logo.

What's nice about Apples is that if you read the licensing agreement, Apple will update your software up to, and including, the next major revision of the iPad's operating system. What this means is that if you have version 3.11 of the iPad Operating System. Apple will provide the updates for free such as version 3.12 to latest version 3.xx. When Apple releases version 4 of the iPad OS, that upgrade is included as well! You might have to pay for the next major upgrade such as version 5.xx.

The Differences Between Kindle 2 and Nook - Which is Better?

Amazon's Kindle 2 and the Barnes and Noble Nook are the two main heavy-weights in the battle of the eBook readers this year. There are many similarities, and critical differences in the two. What are they, and which is the better digital eBook reader? Let's take a look.

E-Ink Display Screens- Both the Kindle 2 and the Nook use the same "E-Ink" technology for their display screen. Reading for hours on end on these eBook readers isn't like staring at a computer screen. The E-Ink screen displays the words just like (or even better than) looking at a real book.

The Nook, however, has an additional color navigation screen underneath the display screen. This touch screen allows you to scroll through titles of books, magazines, and other publications. There is also a touch keyboard display on this screen. No reviews are available yet for the screen performance, but consumers will soon tell all.

The Differences Between Kindle 2 and Nook - Which is Better?

Wireless and 3G- Both the Kindle 2 and the Nook boast wireless capabilities. You are able to download books and other publications if you have access to a wireless network. If no wireless internet is available, then 3G cellular capabilities will allow you to download in that situation.

International Availability- Here is a major difference between the two eBook readers- International capabilities. The Kindle 2 boasts the ability to download books and full usage in over 100 countries, whereas the Nook is only fully functional in the US. Of course the Nook device will work in the sense you can still read books out of the country, but you cannot add more books or publications. This is obviously a very important point for international customers to take into account.

The Nook's Lending Capability- The Nook has the ability to let you lend out your books to others that have downloaded the Barnes and Noble software. You don't necessarily have to have a Nook to receive the lent books, just the software. One should know that lending time is only 2 weeks and the person who lends the book cannot use it during that time. A good feature? Customers will tell over time.

Storage Space- Both the Kindle and Nook have base memory of 2 GB, which is good for about 1,500 books, however the Nook allows for extra space to be added to increase the titles to upwards of 17,500. Is 2 Gigs enough? Well, read one book a day and you'll have 4 years of reading material!

Other Differences- The Kindle boasts a slightly lighter device, text-to-speech technology, and a web browsing capability, whereas the Nook doesn't.

One other notable difference is the Google Android software in the Nook. Barnes and Noble chose this software, banking on the development of applications by software developers that will work with the Nook. We'll have to see how the software performs and if there is an iPod like popularity in applications.

Melting Method Cakes

Cake making by the melting method really is a piece of cake because it requires the minimum of effort. This method is specially designed to cope with the extra sweeteners needed to make soft and sticky traditional cakes such as gingerbread.

Melting-method cakes have a characteristic tacky, sticky texture throughout the cake, and it is this that has made cake like gingerbread so very popular and has given them such a high place in traditional baking. This stickiness is achieved by increasing the proportion of sweetening agents to ether ingredients in the cake.

To handle the extra volume of sweetener, a special method is used. With this method the fat is melted with the sweetener before the flour is added. Before cooking the cake mixture has a good texture and a consistency similar to a thick batter, rather than the soft topping consistency of cake mixtures made by the all-in-one or creaming methods.

Melting Method Cakes

Like all cakes, the amount and the choice of ingredients depend on the method you are using, the flavor and the texture you wish to achieve and/or the recipe you have chosen. Average proportions for cakes made by the melting method are one-third fat to the total amount of flour; one-third sugar to the total amount of flour; and one to two-thirds of sweetener to the total amount of flour. However, these proportions can vary considerably with individual recipes.

One extremely important factor when making cakes by this method is the exact weighing of the ingredients for the individual recipes. As long as there is a correct balance of ingredients to start with, perfect results will follow.

There are no hard and fast rules about the type of flour to use. As a basic guide, plain flour is best used, because then you can control the amount of raising agent which is important to the mixture. Self-raising flour may be used for certain recipes, but as you have no control over the raising agent you can never be sure whether it is too much or too little for the purpose of making cakes by this method. Certain brown flours can be used depending on your taste. Never use a strong plain flour (the type recommended for bread making), because this will produce a tough and heavy-textured cake. You should never substitute one flour for another in a given recipe, because this could upset the overall balance.

Bicarbonate of soda is the raising agent most often used in this method of cake making as it combines successfully with plain flour. When this chemical raising agent is heated, it gives off a carbon dioxide which produces the rise. Baking powder, another chemical raising agent, is used where self-raising flour is included. The quantities are usually small because of the amounts already in a self-raising flour. Baking powder is added, nevertheless to boost the rising. If you are using a brown flour, you must use baking powder in larger quantities than with self-raising flour. Brown flour is so much heavier than white flour and needs the extra rise that a larger quantity of baking powder will give.
