E Books by African-American Authors

The times are changing, whether we want them to or not. The days of purchasing African-American books by African-American Authors from only brick and mortar stores seems to be fading into oblivion. Many businesses which have been around for years and years are now gone. Where are all of the bookstores? Not only are the sellers no longer there, but now another serious question has come into play. With the introduction of the E book, is there even a need for physical books anymore? There can never be a substitute for a book signing in a bookstore. The author gets to feel the rush of seeing their book where they'd envisioned it, and the book fan gets to meet the esteemed author in the place that gives their work the highest in credibility. But what happens when you take that bookstore out of the scenario? As we try to ponder these questions, one fact reigns absolute; the focus should be to keep African American Fiction thriving, alive, and well.

People can still enjoy African-American Fiction, Urban Fiction, African-American Self Help Books, and African- American Non-Fiction. What's changed is how we will access it. The fact of the matter is that you can still buy tangible books, but you should know that E-Books aren't going to go away anytime soon. E books can hold thousands of books on one device. The price of the titles is less, because there are no printing costs involved. And this is the best part, the possibility that an undiscovered African-American writer who got shut down by literary agents or who didn't have the means to go through a traditional publisher can actually still share their craft with the world and be embraced. It could be a dream realized, life-changing even, for some fortunate individual. The emergence of online E Book stores has become a welcome addition to reading communities. In a world of instant gratification, it's become convenient for one to upload a book of their choice in only a matter of seconds. Some have text to speech software for the visually impaired; you can use it in a low or high light environment, find definitions and bookmark, and a host of other advantages. Free E Books samples can also stimulate the sales of printed version books. So yes, the times they are changing, perhaps what we all need to do is try and change along with it.
